edost Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I've written to a few professors and most of them have answered, saying that my research interests fit their program. One gave me a very detailed answer, including an attachment, so I'll definitely answer him. The question is this - am I also supposed to reply to those who have written me short answers, thanking them for their reply? Also, one person said to keep him posted about how my application proceeds. Does this mean he just wants me to let him know if I get accepted, or let him know when I've sent the application materials?
CloakandSwagger Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I emailed back to every professor who emailed me back, even the ones who gave me very terse replies. Just shows you appreciate them taking the time to answer you email, which they didn't have to do in the first place.
We regret to inform you Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 if you are already over-analyzing things at this stage of the game, you'll be having a heart attack come spring. thank the profs for their replies and move on. common courtesy. Xarqin 1
Triple Tall Cappuccino Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I agree. I actually just finished replying to my POIs. Something short, sweet, and polite. It's always good to thank them for their time. As a previous poster mentioned, they didn't need to reply!
