Top OB Programs - Pubs?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply to b-schools in OB this fall and I had a couple questions re: pubs. Are (first authorship) publications common among those accepted to OB programs at the top b-schools?

Or are pubs seen more as bonuses to have, but not necessarily required, when applying to these schools?

From my experience pubs are not a necessity but they are a huge help. They show to the adcoms that you're serious about research and have experience doing academic work.

I don't imagine there being many first authors among applicants.

They're not common. I had a couple of conference publications/proceedings and they were always brought up to be exceptional during my interviews.
