Curatorial Assistantships

Does anyone have any experience with these? A lot of the programs that I am interested in have these, and I am very interested in them for what I want to do. I have gotten bare bones information from the schools themselves, and from what I can tell they are similar in structure to TA and RA positions, similar pay, and the like. But I am wondering if anyone else is looking at them, or have gotten them and can share their experiences of what was actually involved with the work in the museum/collections that they worked with.
