Javslavin Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 The results survey only shows one acceptance this season, from UNC, so don't get worried yet! I was wondering whether that was in reference to the fall 2012 entrance - only as the 'season' underneath the program says 's12'... I don't know, it's what I'm using to rationalize what would be a mini-freak out.

Or maybe, as some people on whogotin are speculating, it's fake; there aren't any other UNC acceptances yet...

It's early but not surprisingly early. Hard to tell. The only thing I know is... both of us are gonna find the next week very different from this one XD
givemeresultsnow Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Is UNC actually giving offers? There are 5 posts already. Isn't that too soon? (I haven't applied there... so not too stressed about it :/... but just wondering!)
Blurry Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Maybe they had an earlier deadline? I did not apply either.
Blurry Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Just checked, their deadline was Dec 15th. They also say that they "start working on applications right away", they weren't kidding.

Almost precisely the same interest here but I did not apply to pure blood continental schools.
shawsim Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Hey everyone, I am an undergraduate philosophy major at a state university. My scores on the GRE and my GPA are pretty solid. I coauthored a paper with one of my professors, and I have been a grader/TA for two upper-division philosophy courses. I am generally interested in issues in epistemology, philosophy of science, the philosophy of language, and meta-philosophy, especially as they are informed by the cognitive sciences. But I'm also interested the history of science and the history of analytic philosophy. Here are some of the schools to which I applied: U of Pitt (HPS), WashU, UBC, Duke, UC Irvine (LPS), Stanford, CMU, UCSD, and UIUC. A heads up: I was recently accepted to UIUC, but I'm waiting to hear back from the other schools before I accept any offers. Best of luck to everyone.
joya Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Judging from the results survey page, it looks like we need a UNC rejection commiserations thread. I know I do.
Blurry Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 A result has been posted from SUNY Albany, although from the comments it seems that the timing is unusual.
Norman G Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Results already? Good grief! It makes waiting until March that much harder
especially Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Same here, NGrubb. The places I applied to had early-January deadlines and I don't expect to hear back until late February at the earliest, this wait is so stressful!

Norman G Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 A result from Texas A&M has been posted??? I'm starting to wonder if someone just made up results survey information just to frustrate people?
shawsim Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I see a couple of rejections from Duke up on the results board. This makes me wonder whether anyone's been accepted?
MattDest Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 So this might be a dumb question: since results are posted for 2 people at UIC, what does this mean for others who have applied there? Does acceptance work in waves, generally, or do they make most decisions at once? I'm a first-time applicant who doesn't know much about that process.

I'd suggest looking back at previous years on the results survey to see how it's played out. They might send out acceptances one week, then wait-list's the next, etc., it just depends on the department.
shmeliza Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I am also waiting... I have applied to (a mere!) 6 PhD programs: Chicago (The Committee on Social Thought...did anyone else apply here?), Emory, Boston College, Boston University, U Oregon and Baylor. Now that I see these other lists, I'm thinking I under-applied? I already have an MA in History of Philosophy, 3.8 GPA from that and a 3.4 undergrad GPA. GRE: 800 v, 740 q, 5.5 aw My interests are history of philosophy, political philosophy and German philosophy (especially Kant & Hegel).

andaval Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 There is a post reporting a rejection from U of Oregon on results page, Is there anyone else who have heard from Oregon?
magog Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 There is a post reporting a rejection from U of Oregon on results page, Is there anyone else who have heard from Oregon? Wondering the same thing... this is a few weeks earlier than I expected (based on past results) anyone to hear form UofO.
Norman G Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Same here. I applied to UO but haven't heard anything. Maybe someone with too much time and an ax to grind is posting fraudulent results?

I also think that it's a fake post,it also might be eliminated at an early stage, but still it seems a fake,
