euphonius38 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I might give them a call, but not expecting much either since they are probably really tight on funding. I'm international, so chances are pretty slim. I need to know so I can coordinate visits to other schools.
salonga Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I got into University of Michigan today. Anyone else visiting UM in March?
psi*psi Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I got into University of Michigan today. Anyone else visiting UM in March? Yes! I'll be there March 6-8th.

duncandam Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I did. The woman said it will be released tomorrow.
salonga Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 adam matzger (and he was super nice!) when are you visiting? march 27th
UnlikelyGrad Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 yes. i was shocked too. a professor called me. i hope you hear from them as well. I'm starting to think that the only way I'll get in is if one of you goes to visit and decides not to go after all. So hurry and visit.
lovesthelazors Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Berkeley started admission in late December. I wouldn't give up on it yet though... because unlike some of you I haven't heard from Columbia! Anyone apply to Chemical Physics at Columbia? I haven't heard back, and I'm wondering if that's due to it being Chemical Physics and not just Chemistry. I'm Physical/Materials. I love lasers and magnets.
lovesthelazors Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Is anyone going to any of these visits? Madison: March 6 Berkeley: March 12th? Cornell: March 27th
duncandam Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I called Berkeley, and they said they couldn't offer me a position (sad face)... It's ok tho, this is my first rejection. Btw, I'm going to Cornell on 27th of March too.
salonga Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 did anyone apply to rutgers (new brunswick) or university of maryland? i have not heard a word from them.
lovesthelazors Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Well, when you go to Cornell, if you meet "C" (my nickname) that'd be me.
duncandam Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Haha, it's funny that my friends at school call me "D". I will be at Cornell on 27th of March, but I haven't bought my ticket yet. Gonna do it soon! I think we have to do it through the airticket agent thing...
lovesthelazors Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Yeah, I'm going to call them tomorrow. Any idea of who you want to meet? I'm thinking Marohn as my top choice, but I also have to go look up some of the condensed matter people who were recommended to me.
duncandam Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 So far I have Coates as my priority. I'm going for nanomaterials, so I have to look more carefully onto it also. Is Cornell your first choice?
lovesthelazors Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Not sure yet. It's one of my top three for sure. See, I never though I'd even get into Berkeley, so my top choices were thrown out of whack. Coates is also on my list, actually. My research adviser highly recommended him.
cammarp Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Just got a response from Univ of Houston. Anyone know anything about RICE?
TehMatrix Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Anyone going to Cornell's visitation weekend this weekend? I'm also visiting UPenn and Penn State in March.
lolchem Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm interested in applying to chemistry graduate programs. I was wondering how you rank the following schools in their chemistry programs: Northwestern UCLA Michigan Ann Arbor Illinois Urbana Champagne Washington Southern Cal Thanks.
