I STILL haven't heard from Harvard. Is anyone else in the same boat? I know it must be a rejection at this point but I haven't received anything through email or the post and it's getting awfully close to the April 15th deadline...

I think I recall that people who e-mailed Thom Wall got a response pretty quickly; I would try that. In contrast, I still haven't heard from NYU, and they won't even confirm rejection by e-mail. I just gave up and made my decision.

Are you serious? That is terrible, did you not email a Prof you would be interested in working with at NYU and get them to ask on your behalf??

I haven't; to be honest, I was leaning towards my current choice over NYU anyways, so I didn't think it would make much sense to lobby them that heavily only to turn them down. That being said, I would have given them serious consideration if they had admitted me or put me on an official waitlist. As it is, I'm going with a program that has signalled they actually want me to come :P

I'd ask for my money back (you could use it to treat all of us to a round at Midwest!)!

I just checked my Rutgers status for fun, and saw that they admitted me.

What.

(Where's the money offer? Why now? Why did you do this to me when I am pretty much set on FIU?!)

If its a candidate in your mind then you dont have much time but probably enough time to arrange a few phone calls. I would do some prep work and then get in contact. Weekend or not if they really want you then at the very least the DGS will give you an hour to try and convince you to attend. If not then dont think too hard about it and pick from your existing offers.

Thanks for the advice! :)

Thanks for the post! I laughed at this: "Grad Cafe is depressing because it exposes a dismal truth: Going to graduate school is no longer a way of opting out of the endless search for a better job, the best job, any job."

"What is more counterproductive than throwing a grad school applicant with no sense of perspective into an online mosh pit of other grad school applicants with no sense of perspective?"

HA!

At least we're all in it together. (cue High School Musical? yes? ...no?)

I'm sure most of you are gone from this board at this point, but I'm super excited that I got the Fulbright award!! And then I'm probably going to still do the Master's at SOAS the next year, so I won't be reapplying right away. Good luck to all of you!!
