wordshadow Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Officially committed to FSU today after the excellent visit this weekend!
PickMe! Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 I STILL haven't heard from Harvard. Is anyone else in the same boat? I know it must be a rejection at this point but I haven't received anything through email or the post and it's getting awfully close to the April 15th deadline...

I know it must be a rejection at this point but I haven't received anything through email or the post and it's getting awfully close to the April 15th deadline... I think I recall that people who e-mailed Thom Wall got a response pretty quickly; I would try that. In contrast, I still haven't heard from NYU, and they won't even confirm rejection by e-mail. I just gave up and made my decision.
saltlakecity2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Congrats to all who have made their choices

That is terrible, did you not email a Prof you would be interested in working with at NYU and get them to ask on your behalf??

I haven't; to be honest, I was leaning towards my current choice over NYU anyways, so I didn't think it would make much sense to lobby them that heavily only to turn them down. That being said, I would have given them serious consideration if they had admitted me or put me on an official waitlist. As it is, I'm going with a program that has signalled they actually want me to come

CafeAuLait12 Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Decision made! I will be attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison in the fall! Message me if you are too! Zahar Berkut 1
Soshiant Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Just accepted my fully funded offer to Georgetown for theory! The package is 11000 per semester for 5 years in addition to tuition and health insurance! Moving back to DC in the fall.
amblingnymph Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I just checked my Rutgers status for fun, and saw that they admitted me. What. (Where's the money offer? Why now? Why did you do this to me when I am pretty much set on FIU?!)

Why did you do this to me when I am pretty much set on FIU?!) If its a candidate in your mind then you dont have much time but probably enough time to arrange a few phone calls. I would do some prep work and then get in contact. Weekend or not if they really want you then at the very least the DGS will give you an hour to try and convince you to attend. If not then dont think too hard about it and pick from your existing offers. amblingnymph 1

amblingnymph Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Look guys, we're famous! http://www.slate.com...st_.single.html Thanks for the post! I laughed at this: "Grad Cafe is depressing because it exposes a dismal truth: Going to graduate school is no longer a way of opting out of the endless search for a better job, the best job, any job."
CairoKid Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Look guys, we're famous! http://www.slate.com...st_.single.html lolololol. How sad.

HA! At least we're all in it together. (cue High School Musical? yes? ...no?)

CairoKid Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I'm sure most of you are gone from this board at this point, but I'm super excited that I got the Fulbright award!! And then I'm probably going to still do the Master's at SOAS the next year, so I won't be reapplying right away. Good luck to all of you!! CooCooCachoo, saltlakecity2012, PDCU and 4 others 7
