alem Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Hello All, I was wondering if someone could give me some information on CUA's ECS program. How many students they accept and if anyone is or was in the program, the experience they had?
sacklunch Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Great question! I also recently discovered this program and was wanting more info.
LateAntique Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I know in past years they have taken just one student. It's not super well-funded. The stipend is only about 18/18.5k /yr, which is not really enough to live comfortably in DC.
alem Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 Thanks for all the information, I have tried contacting the department and I was not able to get sufficient information on the program. Th reason I am attracted to the program is because they have a wide variety of departments to choose classes from and the ability to be trained in many languages.
tt503 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I don't know about Early Christian Studies, but I was accepted to the PhD program in Semitic Philology without funding...I think this is quite common, as the fellowships (at least in this department) were university determined (which I gathered are basically based off of quantitative factors such as GRE/GPA), not departmentally determined. Also, I had a heck of a time getting any information from anyone.
alem Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 I'm now in the process of applying for the MA/PHD in ECS studies and I too have been having trouble getting information from anyone in the program.
