TJMSW2012 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I am interested in more of a Macro focus, specifically public policy. I have a lot of direct practice experience, but not so much in actual MACRO practice, so I dont know if I would be able to get in the better schools like Chicago. Does anyone know anything about Catholic, UMD Baltimore or Boston University?
Leewa19 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 My sister graduated from Catholic's MSW program in 2007 and absolutely loved it. Her focus was more on the clinical/micro end of things, but I do know that no matter what your interests are, they have really great connections with a lot of different agencies for field placements. I'm sure that being in the middle of DC will give you a lot of options when it comes to macro practice! If you have any questions about the campus (it's absolutely beautiful) or area let me know...I'm probably going to be applying there as well!
blue horizons Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hello Decaf, I'm interested in the clinical/micro end of things at Catholic and U. of Maryland. In your sister's experience, how much does the school's Catholic roots impact the training and/or general culture of the MSW students, if at all? Thank you!

I have a friend who attended and loved it.
roxyshoe Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I am applying to B.U and Maryland, don't know much about their macro programs...but from what I've read and seen at grad fairs, the macro side of things seems to be really good everywhere, whereas clinical is a bit more iffy depending on the school. x
