I just got back from the GRE Math test, and figure there have got to be some other people who tested today and want to talk about it. What did you take? How do you think you did?

This was my second time taking the Mathematics test after a pretty poor performance last year. This time it all seemed to go pretty smoothly, but I don't want to get too confident before the results roll in (I hope it isn't really a six week wait). I definitely feel like I knew what I was doing on the majority of the questions, anyway; it's really going to come down to how many stupid mistakes I made along the way.

How about you?

Yeah, I just got back from taking the GRE biology test. It was my first time taking the test, and I felt that it was too long. 200 questions for less than 3 hours is not enough. I did not complete the whole test and skipped about 30 questions cause I ran out of time. I hope I did well and I cannot wait to get my result. Six week is too long.

Oh and I forgot to tell you that ETS schedule the subject test on Oct 15, which is my birthday. So I had to take it on that day, which kind of ruin my day already.

Sounds rough, but hopefully the results will come through for you. At least it's out of the way so you can enjoy yourself now. Have a happy birthday!

I took the chemistry subject test. I have to say, the test was relatively easy compared to the practice tests (less computations). Inorganic chem was quite hard, and analytical chem was almost non-existent.

I just want to forget about this exam until the results arrive on November 25.

I took biology, and I thought it was harder than any of the practice tests...and way more focused on plant bio/ecology/evolution :(

I took the Literature in English test today. It was, well, awful. I cried for a good hour after the test because I was so frustrated. The test format was completely different from what I was expecting, based on the practice tests and information provided by the ETS. There was a lot of really obscure literature tested, and there were no identifications like the test has always (to my knowledge) had in previous years. Instead, it was all reading comprehension--way too much to read and analyze crammed into 170 minutes.

took the chemistry test. i have to say there a some questions covered things that I did not learn in the past, unfortunately. other than that, i think it's fair.

just out of curiosity - did anyone who take the biology test today find any questions misleading/weird/wrong?

I also took the literature gre today, and I agree--the test was nothing like the practice tests provided by ETS. I started out with the Princeton Review strategy of skipping passages I didn't recognize so that I could answer the shorter identification questions first (which worked really well on the practice exams), but by the time I was half way through the test I realized there were not any identification questions--they were all passage-based! WAY too much reading for the time given. So I'm just hoping for the best.

I also took the chemistry subject test. I thought it was very similar to the practice tests I took, perhaps a bit easier. I skipped about a dozen the first time through but had more than enough time to go back and focus on each of those. Very anxious to see my score, although from what I hear the chemistry GRE test scores are not all that important. Best of luck to everyone else who tested today!

I took the Biology test on the 15th too. There seemed to be a LOT of plant physiology questions to me and way too many experimental questions of course. I was doing great on time until those. I also left 20-30 blank, but somewhat strategically. About 10 of those were scattered throughout because I didn't know them and didn't want to guess and the others were in the experiment section. I did get some of those, at least.

I used a Kaplan book, which was helpful for what it covered, but there were definitely a lot more ecology and evolution topics than were in the Kaplan book. If I hadn't learn about some of those things from reading Richard Dawkins (thanks) I would have been in a lot More trouble than I already was.

I basically have no idea how I did. I guess these types of exams are hard to estimate...

Good luck to all of you.

As I said, I took the Biology test on the 15th and also left out about 30 questions mostly from the experimental section cause I did not have time and it was too long to answer them. I am not a fast test taker, but I hope the experimental section did not screw my score up. Is there others people besides Jtbee that left out the experimental section because they ran out of time. I wished I can take the test again but it will be too late to take it in November isn't it? When will they send out the scores?
