jprmacdonald Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I know this sounds foolish...but what exactly does it mean to be on a "short shortlist"? I heard from Chicago today that I was shortlisted and invited out there next week, but my family and I (first-generation college grad) have no idea what that means. Anyone been through this process before? Thanks!
rising_star Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 The short list of applicants most likely. As in, they've weeded through them all and made a short list of people they want to consider further. Maybe. I could be totally wrong. P.S. Moving this to "Applications" because it'll get a better response there, likely.
cardnav Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 From my understanding, short-listed means that you are on the top of their list, but so are several others. There may be 15 - 30 of you on the short-list and only 3 - 5 spots, so they want to invite you all out there to speak with you so that way they can get to know you as a person and make a more well-rounded decision, rather than just based on the application you submitted. It's obviously a good thing.
