NoMoreABD Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Hey all, So this Berkeley professor has read my statement for PhD and liked it, and (after previously stating I'd be a good fit to the program) emailed me "let's meet to discuss this". Now, as he should know by now, I am on the other side of the globe... Assuming he doesn't expect me to fly to the West Coast before I even apply, is it ok if I suggest that we skype? Not sure how to respond to this... Any thoughts?
ktel Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Yes you should definitely mention that you don't live near by and suggest a phone call or Skype discussion.
remenis Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I completely agree with the above post. Just say that you would love to meet but you live quite far away. You can ask if he'll be coming to your area any time soon (probably very unlikely), and should definitely suggest skyping or talking on the phone instead. Congrats on getting a great response from a POI
NoMoreABD Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 yes, that's what I thought. thank you guys!
