mandarin.orange Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I can't recall if I first saw this hilarity here, or on a friends FB page...at any rate, it makes me laugh every time I see it...worth the re-post (if that's the case), and hopefully bring a little much-needed humor and a smile! :-) (My attempt to give credit where its due.) waddle 1
TropicalCharlie Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Thanks for the laughs. Poor techs! I have been there, so I know how it feels.
Arcadian Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Heh...some of them are funny, but some of them I did not understand at all. Technicians are seen by post-docs as...gossiping women? Professors are seen by post-docs as...a giant burning eyeball?
vonLipwig Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 The latter is Sauron, of Lord of the Rings.
Xanthan Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 And for that matter, why does the PI see undergrads as jailbait?
juilletmercredi Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I think the latter is a jailbait mechanic, which is a pretty accurate descriptor of how many older male scientists may see undergraduates (especially females). And as for Sauron, I believe he is a being of extreme power and also extreme evil, which is why a postdoc might see his PI that way. He's the Dark Lord of Mordor. One of his other titles is Base Lord of Treachery, which I think hilarious in this context. mandarin.orange 1
Kbk9 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 awesome, my fav is postdocs who see phds as the toddler sticking the knife in the wall.
mandarin.orange Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 awesome, my fav is postdocs who see phds as the toddler sticking the knife in the wall. That is my favorite and I even used it as my profile pic for awhile. Scrooge McDuck, the postdoc rolling in $$, and the baby reaching for the beer are pretty good too.
