andyphilips Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I was wondering if anyone knew of good political economy programs for a PhD track? I have some interest in IR but really enjoy the economics part combined with polisci. northstar22 and Zahar Berkut 1 1
RWBG Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 That link is helpful if you're looking at IPE, but IPE is just a subset of PE. A lot of political science programs have people interested in some form of political economy; can you be more specific? orst11 and northstar22 1 1
andyphilips Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 thanks that link is good...I'm mostly interested in the IPE aspect, intl. trade, finance and the effects of globalization
bakerab Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Hi all, I'm the Director of Graduate Studies in CU-Boulder's Political Science Department. While I certainly won't disagree with previous posts that Harvard, Wisconsin, and UCSD are the top places to study political economy, I'd also urge potential applicants to take a look at the quality of our faculty in the area. PE is one of our area's of strength, both in comparative and IR. http://polsci.colorado.edu/component/option,com_qcontacts/Itemid,75/catid,13/view,category/ Best, Andy Baker northstar22 1
andyphilips Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 Funny you should mention CU Boulder...it is already on my list to apply to actually. I just wanted to see if I was missing any "big" programs for PE/IR
RWBG Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 @Professor Baker I just read a paper of yours on trade policy beliefs (the one published in AJPS) that I really liked! I'll keep CU Boulder in mind for the future.
Penelope Higgins Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Baker's World Politics piece from a few years ago is really impressive as well.
