Seanish Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Just got my GRE scores. 165, 96th percentile, for verbal but a 4.0, 48th percentile for analytical writing. When I walked out of the test back in August I felt the writing portion was probably my best. Should I attempt a rescore? How is AW considered by graduate programs in history?
TMP Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Don't waste your time with it. You've got your SOP and writing sample to show what kind of writer you are. They don't even pay much attention to the AW.
tt503 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 If it helps, I've taught English courses at the undergraduate level and only received a 4.5 on my AW. I'm not stressing about it.
maeisenb Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I thought i kicked its ass as well and got a similar score. GRE is all about not bombing and you did fine with everything else. SOP and writing sample will show what you can write history wise, rather than following some stupid writing prompt that has nothing to do with anything.
cooperstreet Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 From what I have heard, no one cares about the AW score.
