Oh gawssshhh...Did anyone hear anything back around this time?

For those that have gone down this path before, did you guys hear anything back before December? I know some schools have roll in admissions but I havent heard anything back since I completed my application a month ago. I know its sorta stupid to ask now but I am way too anxious about this PhD application thing.

And p.s I am really anxious because I'm getting a Masters in Bio and I have this really cool research internship that I am doing. But if I get positive news from like half the 15 schools I applied to then I'll drop the internship, reduce my course load and just do minimal work to keep my three-nine-two gpa.

It is so cool to know that you're willing to reward with continued hard work not only those who gave you the research internship but also the qualified applicants that were turned away so you could do your thing..

Agreed X 3. It's one thing to cut yourself a little slack on coursework once you have an "in." But abandoning those who gave you an opportunity and depend upon your help (even if your tasks are minimal)? Not okay, IMO.

Oh dear...here we go again. I'm in trouble again. Okay...those were just instantaneous fantasy ideas. I know I cant drop classes in the middle of the semester and I TA so I cant just quit. And I cant even leave the internship cus that'll be like throwing out hundreds of hours of work and the PI was one of the PIs that wrote LsOR for me so that wouldnt be a good pay back.

I definitely could have worded the last paragraph to express how funny the idea was when I was typing it out.

Glad to hear you were just fantasizing about taking the rest of the term off. Sadly, it is not too hard to imagine that some people would drop everything once they've gotten what they wanted. If you are really feeling as though you are burnt out and need a break, perhaps a year off between graduation and going back to grad school might have been a good idea. I took several years off between college and more school, and I'm glad I did. I certainly wasn't ready at the time to continue straight on. And now I'm back in school again after a much longer time away, very appreciative that I still have the opportunity to keep learning.

Well, that's good. Did you apply to any schools with rolling admissions? If not, then you're going to have to wait. See when people posted in the results section last year. If you're lucky, you'll find people who posted about the same schools/programs you applied to. Then you'll have a sense of when you might start to hear back from schools. Good luck.
