Yea buddy...I'm in the same situation as you. I was worried till it showed that it didnt receive my personal statement and I realized that this is gotta be a joke.

I think the prompt for Neuroscience is different from mine. They asked us to write a not-less-than-1000-word essay on our research experience. They should just stop making us write these research statements and call the labs directly. They can ask the PI whatever the hell they like about the research. So I'm curious to know how you fit 750 words into one page . What font did you use? Is it called fosgfp special? lol

Thanks buddy, but the thing is that for one of my experiences, I am not even allowed to talk about the research not to talk of the results I got. If I do...my ass would be sued by the people I work for. I'm not even allowed to take my notebook home or even put data on my personal flashdrive. But the other research, I can talk about my results but it probably wont get approved by my PI for submission. I can bullishly send out the data to Penn...but it will most likely comeback to hunt me. EFF EMM EL!

@fosgfp...I see that you are applying to Penn too...how did you manage to write your research statement without giving any important data away? I've been writing and rewriting mine every other day

I'ld like the think that the more qualified applicants posts their stats here. Call me naive, but why would anyone lie on here? Everything posted on here is somewhat anonymous so I dont think anyone has anything to gain from lying about stats here.

Bauhaus seems like someone applying to only IVY leagues so I wanted to politely remind her of the other schools so she could apply there too lol. I'm a scientist...I know alittle more than a 7yr old when it comes to picking out schools that have good pol science departments. I saw an incomplete list and tried to complete it ...I didnt plan on making sense...lol

If I were in you situation, I'ld call the admissions counselor and explain my situation to them. They should help you better than all the comments you'ld receive from here

Tell me about it man...cutting my 860-word general personal statement was tougher than writing it. I took out some words/sentences that I would have paid $100 just to keep.

I'm not feeling like I'm burnt out at all. I love what I'm getting myself into. Im way too excited to take a year off. I just pray that I get in somewhere.

Oh dear...here we go again. I'm in trouble again. Okay...those were just instantaneous fantasy ideas. I know I cant drop classes in the middle of the semester and I TA so I cant just quit. And I cant even leave the internship cus that'll be like throwing out hundreds of hours of work and the PI was one of the PIs that wrote LsOR for me so that wouldnt be a good pay back. I definitely could have worded the last paragraph to express how funny the idea was when I was typing it out.

For those that have gone down this path before, did you guys hear anything back before December? I know some schools have roll in admissions but I havent heard anything back since I completed my application a month ago. I know its sorta stupid to ask now but I am way too anxious about this PhD application thing. And p.s I am really anxious because I'm getting a Masters in Bio and I have this really cool research internship that I am doing. But if I get positive news from like half the 15 schools I applied to then I'll drop the internship, reduce my course load and just do minimal work to keep my three-nine-two gpa.

I'm applying to the same dept in Columbia Univ and I wrote exactly 500 words on the pers statement. Upenn wanted 500 and Cornell Weill was tacit about asking for 500 words. On the other hand...you have schools like CUNY graduate center and Temple University that require a maximum of 32,000 characters...I'm thinking about sending my masters thesis with my personal statement lol
