limeinthecoconut Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Since I am waiting it out, I thought sharing our Murphey's Law stories this application might be interesting. Shall start the ball rolling with mine: Of all the schools that I applied, school X is the lowest-ranked school and one of my best faculty fits (and hence, represents one of my best chances of gaining admission). As I went about my business, preparing all the materials for the 1 Dec deadline around the first week of November, suddenly, I saw this obscure line hidden somewhere in the application that went something like this: "International students must submit materials to the Graduate Admissions Division by 1st November" For some reason or other, they had two different deadlines for two different divisions within the university. Needless to say, I am an international student. Eeeekk!!!!
purplepepper Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I've heard of universities having 2 different deadlines. Don't know why though, it's always seemed strange to me. Did you end up applying anyway? What happened? And I definitely don't think that you are the only one that this has happened to! Good luck with it all
limeinthecoconut Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 I applied anyway, and keep my fingers crossed they'll overlook this. I thought it was a pity not to apply, given that at that point, I had already secured LORs. Didn't want to waste my LOR writers' efforts. Thanks! Good luck with your applications, too!
