Ugh, make up your mind, indeed. I simply don't have the time or energy to make this thing that much shorter, so they are just going to have to deal. (and by "deal" I mean plz accept me)

Also, bespeckled, I was pretty much in awe of you because at first I thought you had a 4 page single spaced sop!

Okay, fuck it. I'm taking my original/good SOP and doing it single spaced at 12 pt font. That's two pages. The dept. instructions page says double spaced, the FAQ says single or double, and the application itself doesn't specify.

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL.

I'll join you, bespeckled. I'm just using my 2 p, single spaced SOP. I don't really care at this point about this length thing. If they want me, they want me. I'm too busy freaking out about the personal statement to bother with cutting stuff right now.

I just paid and clicked submit. My application is far from perfect, but I'm going to try to be happy that it's progress, and my January apps will be even better. Now to grade those finals...

I am currently recovering from a panic induced by my mother's momentary insistence that midnight PST was 10 pm central time. Oh, man. I think my heart may finally have stopped racing.

I AM LITERALLY GOING INSANE. But, on the bright side, after realizing I still had some time, I took a nice hot bubble bath and got some ideas for my personal statement!!!! :D

Delusional. Completely delusional.

I got an email from them today that said the deadline is midnight, PST!!

From the email:

If you're in the process of completing your Ph.D. application, please note

that the deadline is Dec. 15, 2011 midnight, PST.

So fear not!

Also, I found a typo in my SOP literally immediately after hitting submit. Sigh.

G'night all! Good luck.

Finally hit submit after battling with my last document to upload, which had somehow mysteriously become read-only and therefore wouldn't save as a PDF. Only took me half an hour of trying to fix it before I figured that out.

God speed, half-baked SOP and Personal Statement. I pray the adcomm is sincerely drunk when they read you.

Now back to UCSB for my evening's application hat trick...

And this is why I never reread what I've submitted...

I've been saving-as so many copies of my writing sample that I think I may have used the wrong one for UT-Austin. The one with the typos I had actually fixed in later drafts. I hate this.

Also, I am working on my personal statement and am talking about one of my LOR writers to a ridiculous extent. I also am solely focusing on the "education" part of what they want. I'm tying in a tiny bit about financial stuff, but I don't want to write a sob story. I already felt pressured to do that in the app, when they ask about financing your education up to this point. Blah. This is the dumbest app, I have to say.

Bdon, at least Cornell isn't ALSO due today!! I'd be flipping out big time.

Whoever suggested a hot bath, thank you. That's now on my radar--along with a Lush bath bomb and possibly even some dinner. \O/

...You mean you eat during this process? I've been subsisting solely off of lattes and Marlboro Lights for the past three weeks.

Fuck, fuck, fuck. I'm freaking out again. I FINALLY submitted my application, just to find out that one of my letters isn't in. And of course Michigan explicitly says, "Please make it clear to all recommenders that your application processing will not be complete if we do not receive your letters by the December 15 deadline. Your recommenders will not be able to submit electronic letters after this date."

I've already sent her a freak-out email, but god knows if she'll be checking her email this late. She's an hour later right now, too. laks;dkfj;alksjd;lfkj;alsjd;lfjalksjd;fjas

If I just wasted hours of my time and 65 bucks to be immediately rejected, I'm going to be pissed.

That's ridiculous on the part of whoever designed the application, and completely not your fault. I can't understand why they would set the system up to not take LORs after such a relatively early date--many places have a grace period for lors.

I didn't really think the Michigan statement was a diversity statement. I approached it like a captcha thing, prove that you're a human.

Phew, it was Michigan's fault, after all. My letter writer responded back right away and said she thought she'd already uploaded it. She tried it again, and it went through. Of course, she could have been making excuses...but I'll believe her this time!
