Please leave me feedback, as to whether or not you think I was too ambitious or a school I may be a good fit or have a good chance of getting into. I'm particularly open to schools on the east cost and/or schools that have machine learning departments/concentrations.
ANDS! Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Surprised no schools from NC are there. I think people would be surprised at admission statistics for some of these top tier schools. One year UNC's average GPA for admitted students was around 3.3. What do your LOR's say (if you know what is in them).
cip315 Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I was thinking about UNC of NCSU but the results page here show profiles far above me. I was only able to see one of my LORs, the other professors did not let me read what they wrote, which I believe to be the norm. This professor mentions my experiences as a peer tutor, my dedication to course work and the department functions, and most importantly he outlined my ability to teach myself through my neural network project. He mentions that he places me in the top 5% of students he has taught over the last decade because of my engagement and going beyond what was expected. I would assume the other letters to be similar as I did work very hard in school. I'll look, more seriously, into UNC. Thanks for the tip! As for my other choices, how do you think I would fare?
