I've only found a handful of programs in the United States that focus on human rights.

Columbia's LSMA in HR Studies (Their International Affairs program has a good human rights concentration too).

American U's MA in Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs

University of Denver's MA in International Human Rights

Arizona State University's MA in Social Justice and Human Rights

NYU's MA in Global Affairs with a concentration in human rights (also to be considered is NYU's Gallatin school)

Any more worth mentioning? How are you applications going? What are your backgrounds in human rights?

Tufts Fletcher School might be worth checking out, even if they don't have a program with "human rights" in the title. Of course, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government has a program on everything, but they are more geared toward actual work in government and human rights.

University of Chicago has a professor, Margaret Nussbaum, who writes extensively about law and ethics. She is interdisciplinary between the law school, english and classics department.

SMU's Embrey Human Rights Program is a great resource - you might want to consider SMU's MA in liberal studies, which has a concentration in Human Rights.

Columbia's MA in Human Rights Studies (it is no longer an LSMA) is very flexible, and the profs are fantastic :)

Does anyone know about the Erasmas Mundus MA in Human Rights Policy and Practice? It was formerly known as the MA in Human Rights Practice.

Martha Nussbaum.
