darkmattertek Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 There you have it, CMU just gave me their decision. I'm waitlisted for the ME Ph.D. program. Anybody else waiting on CMU should hear back soon if you haven't already. Anybody else hear from UPenn or UMichigan on admissions decisions?
10sor Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Same here, but judging from the number of people getting this news, they have a LOT of us on the list.
TeaGirl Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 There you have it, CMU just gave me their decision. I'm waitlisted for the ME Ph.D. program. Me too. It seems they sent out the waitlisted results all at once since so many people seem to have been emailed the same thing today. The wait continues.

No rejection yet for you sounds hopeful =]
darkmattertek Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I got waitlisted at UPenn after calling admissions. Anybody else waiting on UPenn should have heard their status already. If not, you are probably waitlisted, call admissions for exact status. Let's hope something goes through, looks like I'll have to wait until the end of April to see what my options are.
DingDong306 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Has anyone heard from Berkeley's ME department? Why they taking so long?
neocortex Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 My friend heard from UCB's ME Dept. in February
K.j. Prashanth Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Hey, Any idea by when is UC Berkeley and GIT expected to declare their results ? When do they generally declare the results ?
polytropic Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Does anyone know if Stanford ME Dept has sent out all their PhD acceptances ? I'm feeling by now it's a rejection but a confirmation would be nice.
neocortex Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 For PhD, Stanford typically do not grant admission unless you have prior funding and supervision arrangements with your POI.
DingDong306 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 @ neocortex So did u get admitted to Stanford PhD program? Also did u go to their admit day yet?
neocortex Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I recently finished my MSc there and did an internal transition to the PhD program. I believe the admit day is early April and it's for MSc only.
artfuldodger Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 @neocortex Would you happen to know if all the acceptances have been sent by Stanford for MS MechE? Thanks.

Anybody else waiting on CMU should hear back soon if you haven't already. Anybody else hear from UPenn or UMichigan on admissions decisions? The email sent by CMU says that you have been waitlisted and a decision will be made by April 30th. A few lines later it says that the waitlisted students will be ranked on April 30th. What does it mean ?
boilermaker Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 guys has anyone heard from Purdue ME for Phd ??? My application is still under reveiw and no decision has been made yet on it. Although talking to them last week revealed this " There have not been any denials done as they will be finalizing admits by the 31st of this month." cryptic as it may be what i understand from it is that no one has been denied as yet but the admits will be finalized by end of this month. anyone else has some input would be grateful. ???
caselogic Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Hi, Went to Mechanical Dept ASO office, U of Michigan, Ann Arbor yesterday. They are still sending out admission letter. All applicant will get the acceptance/rejection email before Apr 15. What a bump!
darkmattertek Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 @K.j. Prashanth For CMU waitlist, they'll give you a number of where you stand compared to everybody else on waitlist I would think. I'm guessing if you aren't high on the list by that point, it is unlikely to be admitted. I know I'm not hoping for a miracle I get off waitlist at CMU and get admitted. That said, being on waitlist isn't the worst thing out there. All we can do is wait. The other thing I've heard that can change your favor in the admissions eyes if you have been waitlisted is to let them know you can fund yourself, whether personally or from an external fellowship. That may sway them in admitting you since you are cheap or basically "free" labor.
DrChops Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Has anyone heard anything from Notre Dame's ME department? I sent an email, and they said "they are still in the process of selections" and would keep going till mid-April. I saw one result from years past had an interview with the department, and was wondering if anyone had something like that. DrChops 1

I too have not heard anything regarding admissions for PhD from Purdue. My application status is still holding for review, although I did get emailed by a POI, so I have hope. If you're right about the end of this month decisions then I guess we should be hearing news on Monday. I just saw that there's been a whole bunch of Stanford MS rejections today. I think they may be finalizing their MS admissions, so maybe that means they'll be moving on the PhD ones soon? I'm so nervous!! Except for the CMU waitlist decision (which is not really a decision), I haven't heard anything back at all from any of the other schools I've applied to and we're closing in on April.
tonylee Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 anyone heard from Gatech, My status changed into something like "depatment acting pending".

Other than that he hasnt heard anything on my application yet and hence i am not too hopefull although i do hope that all the other poeple have better luck on this.

benigurion Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 with funding ??? congrats btw. In the admission letter it is stated: "Funding in the form of research assistantships are provided by our faculty. Please feel free to contact those members of the faculty whose research is of interest to you."
TeaGirl Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Just got rejected from UCSB. My ego is a little hurt, but oddly enough, I wasn't crushed or anything. Still waiting on a reply from my other applications. Hopefully, they will be positive replies.
