I heard from Carnegie Mellon for Statistics more than a week ago, but am still waiting on UPenn, Columbia, Harvard, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Yale, and Cornell. Just wondering if anybody else has heard back from any of these schools? Thanks!

i applied to those schools for statistics as well, minus CMU and Duke, and have yet to hear from any of them. also applied to some other statistics programs, none of which i have heard back from either.

my guess (hope?) is that most stats departments are just on a later schedule.

on a somewhat related note, does anyone know if statistics departments typically do interviews or prospective student visit days, or if they just go straight to acceptance/rejection?

Did you apply to PhD or Masters? I applied to PhD. From what I know, there's no interview. I did get invited to CMU's stat department open house in late February -- sounds like they invited all of their admitted students.

I applied for a master's in statistics from University of Washington, University of British Columbia, University of Minnesota, and UC Irvine...so far I've only heard back from Minnesota (admitted, yay!) but UW is my top choice, and so far...nothing. Their deadline was Jan. 1st so I'm getting a little nervous!

To the OP - congratulations on CMU! That's awesome.

I emailed the administrative assistant there today but haven't heard from him yet.

I believe people accepted have been already notified? I guess no news yet is definitely bad news.

I e-mailed the admin assistants in both the Department and the Graduate School.

Haven't heard from the Dept., and the Grad School guy said that decision letters would go out after March 15th.

thank you for sharing the info with us. I guess March 15th is awefully late. Can they just send out the result

via email?

Columbia GSAS will send out decisions, but if you want to know your result right now, all you have to do is call:

Dood Kalicharan

Department Administrator

Phone: 212.851.2130

Fax: 212.851.2164

Email: dk@stat.columbia.edu

She'll ask you to send an email to verify you are who you say you are. Then she'll tell you the result.

Hi,

I was wondering if there's funding(including TAship) available for Master's program in Stats. If so, which schools? Thanks!

Posted

I think funding for master's students depends on the program and the year. This year, there's not a lot of funding for anyone, and master's students get shafted. Other years, though, I"ve known of people getting TAships witih tuition remission and a stipend for master's.

Congratulations on everyone who's gotten acceptances! that's very exciting.

Sorry for a digression from the above posting.

Is it a "must" to visit schools once you get accepted? Would it be frowned upon by

the schools if I decline to visit due to busy work schedule?
