CarlieE Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Man, I hope I get a question like this. The open-ended, subjective questions are so much easier than the objective ones.. ie. "Tell me what theoretical framework you plan on your using for your dissertation." If posed this question, I'd begin with a self deprecating remark, then smile and then say why I make a great student, how committed I am (so I won't end up an ABD) and how I can contribute to the school and the scholarship of my field. (In more words than this, of course.)
DBP Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I'd avoid the self-depreciating remark! I see this question not as an opportunity to boast my skills, but my knowledge of the program and the department. In past interviews, I've responded to questions like this by mentioning my commitment and intended involvement in specific training opportunities. Best of luck, it can be tricky to sort this one out!
DBP Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Think about this for yourself, research isn't particularly hard. The process of going through the motions can be trivial in some fields. Where lies the difficulty? And how will you overcome it? This will yield good material for this sort of question. Again, best!
hope4fall2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I would hate such questions!!! I'd much rather deal with the subject related questions. I hope I'm never asked these.. But now that I know that I could be asked these, I gotta go find answers..crap..

chronicx Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 well this is a canadian university - Uni of Toronto in person (since i live closeby)..and it was completly like a conversation .. which kind of put me to ease.... Q2: i said having proper knowledge/background knowledge..being basically prepared for the project they are working on ( i dont know.. i was literally thrown off on this question..lol) Q5: i said..making a list wat needs to be done.. thinking ahead of wats necessary..like if ur doing a budget which needs 2 weeks to be approved.. you have to prioritize and make sure u get the budget in 2 weeks prior..so that it can be due by the grant deadline...n in the age of technologies... i think i use a lot of reminders and virtual lists that are available to me whereever i go Q6: lol.. i said clutter.. Q1...research process means the 5 steps in research process...coming up with idea.. doing the hypothesis...collecting data...analyzes and publication
