heulwen Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I think the likelihood of your being funded would be quite high. As I posted above after an interview, DGS said that there would be twenty or something who get admitted to the program. I don't think all of them will decide to go with Rutgers. At least, you are on the funding waitlist, not rejected. Hopefully you'll end up going there. Keep your fingers crossed. I hope you are right.. The email says that only four departmental fellowships are available, so I think this means that in order for me to get funding, one of those 4 fellowship-awarded people must decide not to go. Four is a very small number, so I'm not sure about my prospects.... Were you accepted with funding or not?

These days I have been trying to make up my mind among a few other offers.
heulwen Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Wow, congratulations What are your other options? Let me know when you decide
largo Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Hey guys, do you have any idea if Rutgets sends rejection mails? I was not interviewed but I haven't heard anything about a rejection either. What do you think I should get from this?
ohhello Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 @largo I would assume a rejection since they've already conducted interviews. Right now they are in the process of sending out offers and it seems like they don't submit offers without an interview.
wmnshlthsoc Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Is it bad that I'm hoping that some of those accepted will decline the offer so that I can be considered? I keep telling myself I'm on some waitlist or something and know that not all of the offers will be accepted. Rutgers isn't everyone's first choice right? :/
ohhello Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I will probably decline! I love the faculty and the set up of qualifying papers, but I can't go without some sort of guaranteed fellowship funding.
ohhello Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 The email said the department only had 4 fellowships. So if they accepted 20 of the 40 interviewed, it seems like quite a bit of us are on the wait list.
Cup of Tea Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I just got accepted with full funding, so there may still be funded spots left.
heulwen Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 You were not on the funding waitlist were you?
Cup of Tea Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Nope, I was interviewed about two weeks ago, exchanged a few e-mails with my interviewer afterwards, and then got the acceptance e-mail from the graduate admissions director.
sociology27 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 congrats. I was also accepted and I think there's a high likelihood that's where I'll end up. What are your interests/background?
largo Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Cup of Tea, are you a master student or a Ph.D? Because I applied to McGill as well, and I haven't heard anything so far.
Cup of Tea Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Largo, I am coming straight from my undergrad, so at McGill, I had to apply for an MA (my file was complete by the end of october). I applied for a PhD at Rutgers. Sociology27, I am most probably attending Rutgers as well. I will send you a PM
Soc231160 Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 To the most recent poster in the results forum, could you PM me.... I think we were told the same thing....
MyNamesNotRick Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I've been accepted at Rutgers also with full funding. I've probably met some of you already in this thread. Feel free to PM me.
