Eboni_Rain Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I applied to University of Oregon and University of Washington for MFA in Painting and Drawing. I also applied to Arizona State and University of New Mexico. My top 2 picks are UO and UW, but I am torn between the two. UO is the average 3 year painting and drawing program and UW is a 2 year program. UO has printmaking which I LOVE! UW does not:( but it is 2 years instead of 3! Neither program looks to have much in the figurative style which is my concern. My work is all figure:) Any advice or personal point of view?
bwatkins Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 University of Washington does have a printmaking program
Eboni_Rain Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 That is good to know...I heard that the program is at the undergrad level. As long as I can take printmaking, I will be happy. I emailed them but I haven't heard back yet. Thanks for the info
Josholas Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I applied to UW, UO, and UNM too. Still waiting to hear back from any of them. Good luck!
bwatkins Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I believe that they actually dont have printmaking as a major for graduate level, but you can take courses and use the facilities as a graduate student. So you would still be able to do printmaking while getting your MFA in Painting and Drawing. The program seems to strive for interdisciplinary work so im sure they would love if you worked in both paiting and drawing as well as printmaking. I applied to University of Washington as well. Good Luck!
Eboni_Rain Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 Good luck to you both (bwatkins and Josholas)!
Josholas Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Good luck to you both (bwatkins and Josholas)! Thanks! You too!
sguid Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I applied to UO - it's my first choice and I'm getting quite anxious waiting for word! I did read on another forum that it's one of the last places to make decisions...late March...yikes! Good luck to all of you!
sphil17 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I applied to UW, and haven't heard, but a friend of mine has already got accepted and offered a TA position.
