bounce Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I see lots of people getting interviews at CSUN and acceptances from CSULB, and I applied to both. While my top choice is SDSU, the wait and seeing others getting accepted is really starting to get to me because I have heard nothing. I called CSULB yesterday and they said I should hear back in 5 to 15 weeks. Is anyone feeling as left out and discouraged as I am?
soy Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 You're not alone in this feeling. I applied back to CSULB in November and received notification in December that I was placed in "Pending Status" as opposed to being immediately accepted or flat out rejected. While I should be happy that I wasn't automatically rejected, I now have to wait until July or possibly later before a final decision is made. JULY! sigh. I'm really bummed out. CSULB was the only school I applied to and the only place I want to attend for my MSW.
mrod88 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 This is my first time applying to grad school and only applied to CSULB. I just received an email today notifying me that the MSW dept. has now received my app and that they will be reviewing it shortly. I'm starting to get a little worried because the people who have already received an admissions letter from CSULB have impressive stats. I didn't know how competitive CSULB was going into the process. If I would have known, I would have applied to a couple more CSU's. Yup, the wait sucks! Best of luck to you guys!!
rjose Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 When did you submit your CSULB application? I have heard that those who submit at the moment applications are accepted (October) have a higher chance of getting in. What are your stats? I wouldn't be discouraged by other people's stats because there are a variety of applicants that CSULB accepts. I think experience and an understanding of the field are the most helpful.
bounce Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Ugh, I'm just frustrated because my stats are WAY better than most people who are getting acceptances. It's aggravating.

PBJ Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 tbird, It is NOT true that ONLY weak applicants get interviewed.... Depending on when you apply, be it the 12-1 or 3-1 deadline you will hear something of an interview 3-4 weeks from your turn in date. I was interviewed almost 2 months after my turn in date... So, no worries, you will hear something soon. I also got an e-mail from CSUN stating that people who turned in there applications on or before 12-1 will hear something by 3-15... I know NOBODY who got accpeted to the ON GROUND CSUN MSW program yet. I am talking about the program on the CAMPUS of CSUN, NOT at COC or anywhere else. GL to you!!! :-)
