InspiredSW Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 LOL! I know what you mean. Everyday I check my application for SF State and it keeps saying "Pending." I feel like at this point everyone in the admission office is just sitting around with their feet up, drinking whiskey, and shooting darts at applications, lol. Haha! Sounds plausible to me! I feel like UCLA always tells people on Wednesday or Friday. Hopefully they tell me tomorrow. Good luck with SF state and congrats on UCLA. When did you put in your application for UCLA by the way?
Future MSW 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Has anyone received notification from the UCLA grad division? My acceptance letter said to wait for it, but how long will it take? I need to get back to USC before April 6th. I stopped by UCLA's Graduate Division office today and the person I spoke to said that usually people receive the official letter from them 2 weeks after they receive their letter from the department.
Future MSW 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 (edited) I finally got the email with the official offer of admission from the Graduate Division! Edited March 23, 2012 by Future MSW 2012
vmpancucci Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I finally got the email with the official offer of admission from the Graduate Division! Congrats! What does the email say? I'm still waiting for my Grad Division notification!
vmpancucci Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Hey everyone, now that many of us have gotten in, I thought it would be a good idea to discuss what we've heard about the program itself. For example, incoming class size, Teacher to Student ratio, and general impressions of the program. I'm trying to choose between USC and UCLA and need to know more about the program besides what's on the website. Thanks!
MSWGirl Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Congrats! What does the email say? I'm still waiting for my Grad Division notification! I also received my official letter from the Graduate Division this morning (I received my letter from the Department last Thursday). Everyone is so green now so it basically consists of a lot of links for the program, checklist, orientation, etc. But the most important parts of the letter are the Statement of Intention to Register (SIR) and Statement of Legal Residence (SLR). But for some reason, I couldn't find the deadline for the letter of intent. Does anyone know that date?

Inspired10 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 It's ironic - it seems like its happening so fast! Lol.
SocialWorker1214 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Congrats everyone!! I think I have given up on my hopes of getting in lol =/ I know. I'm getting more pimples because of this wait.
Future MSW 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 (edited) So I checked my provisional financial aid awards letter... all loans Edited March 25, 2012 by Future MSW 2012
vmpancucci Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 (edited) So I checked my provisional financial aid awards letter... all loans Was the awards letter from the UCLA graduate division or from the Department of Social Welfare? If they're like any other school, the grad division solely gives out loans/work study. It's the department that is responsible for notifying you of scholarships, grants, etc. Edited March 25, 2012 by vmpancucci
Inspired10 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Yeah, I think you're right... The award letter were only loans. I think the merit scholarship would be in April if you're waiting for that.

vmpancucci Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 The awards letter was through the financial aid office so I am not sure if it was put together by the graduate division or the Social Welfare department. It's most likely the letter is from the graduate division financial aid office. The same thing was told to me at USC: that I would receive a letter from the university financial aid office that would just be loans and work study. My scholarships, grants, merit-based need award letter would come from the department/school of social work.
Future MSW 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Is anyone planning on applying for the stipends?
Inspired10 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 What is the merit scholarship? I guess I won't be getting that because I did not even know about it I meant the fellowship. It was if you submitted before December 15 and responded to that question..? I forgot if they called it fellowship or merit based scholarship.

I forgot if they called it fellowship or merit based scholarship. I submitted my application before December 15th and wrote a diversity statement for fellowship/merit-based consideration. Still waiting to hear back!
Inspired10 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Same here. Congrats on the acceptance vmpancucci! Which school are you leaning towards?
vmpancucci Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Same here. Congrats on the acceptance vmpancucci! Which school are you leaning towards? Thanks, Inspired10! Leaning towards UCLA. I'm visiting family in LA area next week and am visiting USC and UCLA while I'm there. However, I'm trying to call and email Lance to see if I can get a brief tour of the department and to possibly sit-in a class, but he hasn't been responding. Are you going to choose UCLA?
Inspired10 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Yes, I am! I'm very excited. If you're coming to LA next week then it sounds like you won't be attending the orientation? Either way, the quarter will resume next week so hopefully you'll be able to get a tour.
KMSW Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Has anyone received information on the Welcome Day?

vmpancucci Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Has anyone found a group on Facebook for those of us attending UCLA this fall? =)
