phinxd Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I've been regularly checking this site (it really is addicting!!!) and everyone's stats are so high! It makes me feel like I'm not going to get in. Am I just being paranoid or realistic? Any comforting words?
CarlieE Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Stats are just the proverbial "foot in the door" - And depending on the strength of the rest of your application (your field experience, publications, SOP, research interests, writing sample etc), your stats might become less and less important. Try not to worry: your stats are what they are - wait and see what happens Good Luck
jbriar Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 This site is super self-selecting. Just remember, people share what they want to. If I had a 2.0, I would be hesitant to post it here, and if I had a 4.0 with a 1600 GRE, I'd be far less hesitant. Similarly, I take the results section with a large grain of salt. In my discipline, there are incredibly few rejections posted on the results board. Do I think that means that there is a 90% acceptance rate to grad school for special education? No, unfortunately. In short, don't worry about other people's stats. It does nothing to help your application- if you are concerned about stats, do what you can to increase your own. Good Luck! -J jbriar, CarlieE, -hermes- and 1 other 4
Ambitious1 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Great Responses! I feel as if I'm addicted as well. I feel like it's the Grad School Application Facebook Site lol ... I'm on here I know it seems like three hours a day plus periodic checks for post. It just great to know that there is a place where people understand you and the stressful situation you in....
