goldenbear26 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 So is it true that Berkeley is supposed to release decisions by the end of next week? Looks like last year they released around March 2nd / 3rd? That true? Who else on here is desperately waiting to hear back from Goldman?
aliasaddiction47 Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I found out last week (via email on February 15) I got into Berkeley's MPP/MPH program. For this dual program, admissions is handled through the School of Public, which then coordinates with GSPP. So my case is a little different. Hopefully GSPP lets you know soon!

All I knew was "early March." Hopefully that means a week from today. Have a nice weekend!
readyornot Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I am also anxiously awaiting to hear back.. fingers crossed! cjnayak 1
an_internet_person Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 My partner is waiting to hear... I'm getting super anxious-- probably moreso than she! hah.
cjnayak Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Ah! I'm completely biting my nails about this one! Anyone know if we find out about funding at the same time? cjnayak 1
goldenbear26 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Don't mean to jump the gun -- and at the risk of acquiring bad juju -- does anyone know when Admitted Students Weekend would be? I'm planning a trip and need to know.
senatorsmith85 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 So who thinks Berkeley will be sending out emails today?
intldevelopmentguy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Ahhhh. Evidence from past years suggests that e-mail = rejection, correct? Maybe I should stop compulsively checking my inbox afterall?
MPA455 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 intldevelopmentguy: why does e-mail means rejection?how do they notified admitted students?
intldevelopmentguy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 From reading previous posts on this site I've come to believe that admitted students are notified via snail mail, when they receive an admissions package. I think that rejections are sent simply through e-mail (which makes sense). Still, ahhhhh.
senatorsmith85 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 it does seem though that rejections went out on the same day...meaning you're probably in good shape if other people start recording rejections and you haven't heard a thing. also ppl mention receiving an email "strongly implying" admission...
CookieMonstr Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 2011's notifications were a bit different than previous years', according to the survey: http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=berkeley+%28%22goldman%22%7C%22MPP%22%7C%22public+policy%2C+masters%22%29%29&t=a&o=&pp=50 All rejections came through email, but some acceptances did as well.
intldevelopmentguy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I stand corrected! Back to compulsive e-mail checking ahoskins321 1
goldenbear26 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Sigh, looks like nothing today. Anyone hear anything? I got faked out. Saw a big white envelope in the mail -- wasn't related to admissions.
state_school'12 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 It's a bad time of the year to get non-admissions big white envelopes. I bet that had your heart rate up.
JoshRudes Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Easily checked my email 50 times today. Kept going into the evening because they're on Pacific Time. Sweet way to spend a Friday.
Paul Chung Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I know there's no point to check my email this late at night, but I've been doing it so much this past week that I feel lost if I haven't checked within 30 minutes. Help me.
eigenvector Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Are international students also informed via snail mail? Damn... that's painful !
goldenbear26 Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I recall some international students receiving acceptance e-mails last year. Domestic applicants all get snail mail, though.
CookieMonstr Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I'm going bonkers over here. It has to be soon, right?!
Paul Chung Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 So should I assume another day has passed and we're no closer to figuring out where we're going next year? How many of you guys are waiting for GSPP to make a final decision about which program to attend? I have a sketchy academic past so I don't know if I'll get admitted but I really really want to go there.
state_school'12 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Another day of constantly refreshing email, government affairs, and logging into all of the applyyourself.com applications. With Berkeley, they've had our applications since December, so I'm especially impatient. I wonder about that deadline. I mean, are we supposed to believe anyone does anything at all with the application during the month of December? I think for anyone that applied to Berkeley, there's no way we could make a decision without hearing back from them. For me, Berkeley's the only school I'd consider fully financing my first year.

For me, Berkeley's the only school I'd consider fully financing my first year. I'm on the same page with you. Like most posters here, I got a Dean Merit Scholarship at USC, so I'm not super stressin. I'm excited for it and would consider pursuing a dual master's in Planning and MPP if they would allow me to do it. However, I'm a California liberal so Berkeley is sorta the dream school. I think it's the only school I would be heartbroken over not getting into. It's only now when I read all the gpa's and gre scores of all the ppl applying to GSPP in this site do I regret not really studying in college. Perhaps I should have opened up my GRE book? It's a lil too late now. So here's to tomorrow!! Hopefully the decisions come tomorrow and we can start making our plans for next year!!!
