rlm8746 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Has anyone heard anything about when admit decisions will be made?
wheel_of_fire Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I think UNC sent out admit decisions about 3 weeks ago. I got an email from the grad director and I just received a letter in the mail yesterday confirming.
greekdaph Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Chapel Hill is accepting in waves and appears to have sent out no rejections yet. The earliest acceptance seems to have come about five weeks ago, the most recent within the past couple days. There were 383 applications, and I heard somewhere (this very forum, perhaps) that there will be 17 acceptances. So don't count yourself out just yet!!
michellemmattern Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I saw on my application website that my application had been modified/updated, so I called yesterday (Monday, Feb. 16) to see what that meant. The lady told me that a letter would be going out for me this morning (Tuesday, Feb. 17) and to expect it by Friday. (No one would tell me what it said, however--grr!). So look to see if your application has been updated recently, and this would mean that a paper letter is on the way soon.
sanabel22 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 According to the website, http://english.unc.edu/graduate/prospective-faq.html Unc accepts on a rolling basis from late January to early April....so I wouldn't count yourself out of the game until you get that rejection letter (or better yet, an acceptance)!
mentalyoga Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Well, got my letter this morning. Flat-out rejection. Seeing as it was sort of my last-ditch hope, I'm thinking grad school might not be happening for me next year. Ugh.
Lisa Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Well, my application was just updated yesterday. So I guess that means that my rejection letter is in the mail. =(
rlm8746 Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 i'm not seeing anything happening on my application... or even where it would be updated???
mentalyoga Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Well, my application was just updated yesterday. So I guess that means that my rejection letter is in the mail. =( Not necessarily. Could be your acceptance! Or even waitlist...doesn't mean a thing until it arrives. Though I have to say, I've been cursing Chapel Hill since about 9AM yesterday.
Lisa Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 i'm not seeing anything happening on my application... or even where it would be updated??? If you go into your application and look at your actual application (I believe), there are 2 dates--one the date you submitted the application and one the last time it was modified. For a long time the 2nd date said sometime in early January, I'm sure when all my transcripts/info got processed. Yesterday I noticed that it now said modified on 2/23. So I'm assuming I'm getting some sort of notification (positive or negative) based on previous posts from others. Let me know if you still can't find the spot on your application, and I'll actually go to the web site and be more specific on how to find that part. Good luck!!
rlm8746 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 thanks for the help on the dates online, but it turns out my rejection letter got here before i could check. mystery solved!
Lisa Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm sorry! I'm really thinking I'm probably getting a rejection letter in the mail, too. I just think I would have gotten a call if it was positive.
bostdr4 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I finally got a letter yesterday, after noticing that the date on my admission status was updated on the website. The letter was dated 2/26 and I am wait-listed.
