Hi, I've been accepted to my 2nd choice program and it didn't mentioned anything about a grad school deposit. I am still waiting for my 1st choice which doesn't come til early May, so I think I will accept this offer first and see what happens (but I need to know how much the deposit would be, so I can be prepared) . How can I ask the program in a polite way? Thanks

Did you get a funding offer along with your acceptance? I don't remember any of the offers I got saying anything about a deposit but all of them came with full funding from the departments so I wasn't expected to pay anything to begin with.

(if the answer is 'no', might I caution you against doing an unfunded PhD? In the vast majority of cases, it's not worth the investment).

Nope this is a professional master program in Canada so it is unfunded, I didn't apply to any research master (probably would've got in since I do have research exp as undergrad) I thought it will be easier to get a job after and I don't intend to pursue a phd anytime soon. But the professional master program is kinda expensive and I've been having some doubts lately, hoping this is just a phrase. haha

If your acceptance letter doesn't indicate a deposit needs to be sent, most likely they don't require one. My acceptance letter included an intent to enroll form that clearly stated the amount of the deposit that needed to be sent in to secure my place.

^ you are right! I just emailed them, they don't need a deposit (weird - I remember paying a substantial amount for my undergrad). Thanks for your answers!
