  1. i emailed the Dean that I had been corresponding with and asked if it was possible to have an additional week or two. I told her that I wanted to make the most informed decision possible and if there was any possibility of additional time that would greatly help. She was really nice and gave me more time than I requested and said if I hadn't heard back by that time we could reconvene and discuss.
  2. Pepperdine's deadline is May 1st and they seem pretty good with funding.
  3. Dinged at Wagner, USC looking very unlikely. Hello Malibu! Congrats all!
  4. From previous posts last year it looks like they start sending their decisions late afternoon (4pm EST) to midnight.
  5. I didn't receive the email about the rise in rankings but I did get one about an award to the Furman center award and the career expo email. I really just want to know either way so that I can start figuring out what i'm doing in August.
  6. I'm in the same boat (waiting for Wagner and USC). I spoke with USC on monday and was told I would receive a decision on my app "within the next week or so." The Wagner website says the 16th so hopefully tomorrow. I received those wagner emails too. I was excited when I saw the little grad school label pop up then mad when I saw what it was about. No admissions emails unless you're sending a decision please. Good luck folks!!
  7. Lucky folks! I've come to terms with the fact that i'm not considered a deans merit scholar but am still holding out hope. Does anyone know how the Coro fellowship ties into admission? Congrats to you lucky folks!!
  8. That's one of my concerns. I've spoken with various students like me (liberal/not religious) and they've said there's a mix throughout the school but overall conservative.
  9. Congratulations!! I bet a lot of people would love to have your problem I don't know too much about environmental policy but I would have say that Wagner is the best choice. As rainbow said, they're big on interdisciplinary education and the core courses allow that you'll have a solid structure in management and policy. Have you sat in any classes for any of the programs you mentioned above? In November I visited my top programs, toured campus, talked to faculty and students, and sat in on classes. Sitting in class and watching interactions between students and faculty really helped me when I was deciding.
  10. I'm waiting too! i hope this revamp also includes earlier notification. After reading these boards it looks like they give you about 2 weeks to decide with very little information and a request for a $1,000 deposit
  11. I think the first wave has heard back but they still have more people to go. I applied in December before the deadline and my status on the application page hasn't changed either.
  12. A lot of the MPP programs have this partnership since in theory the MPA programs have a business component already present in their core curriculum and MPP programs are training policy analysts. From the schools that I've applied to I know that UCLA and Pepperdine both have the dual degree option.
  13. If your acceptance letter doesn't indicate a deposit needs to be sent, most likely they don't require one. My acceptance letter included an intent to enroll form that clearly stated the amount of the deposit that needed to be sent in to secure my place.
  14. congrats! i told you that you were in! did they mention when you need to respond by? i'm guessing they're waiting for the first batch of admits to respond before moving onto the next group. i was hoping to hear from them relatively soon (good or bad) primarily because i'm interviewing for a fellowship contingent upon my attending usc and i need to respond to another offer by the 15th. aaarggh.
  15. I sent my completed application on January 19th for a MPP program and was admitted on February 14th.
  16. **Reviving this thread** Did anyone apply for Fall 2012?
  17. I went to school in Ithaca and visited Buffalo frequently. Out of upstate cities, Buffalo is best but it is COLD. In Ithaca we had several days below zero with negative 30 windchill and Buff had several more days like that. If you were choosing between Rochester, Binghamton, or Buffalo I would say Buff but run to LA if you can! Congrats!
  18. I think for undergrad, choosing the Ivy will open up more doors and what not but it's really about the program once you start looking for a masters. However in your case it seems as if the numbers are relatively close and having an Ivy on your resume can be beneficial especially since you're future plans are tentative now. Who knows what will happen in grad school. You might complete the program and completely change course.
  19. When I asked about this during the webinar they kind of glossed over the question without really addressing it. All of the other fellows mentioned how time consuming the program was and how there wasn't any time to do anything else so I wonder about the ability to complete a masters degree program. I was selected to go to selection day for Pittsburgh so I will definitely bring it up!
  20. I heard about that. I know that they're trying to build their class but this a huge decision and we all need as much information as possible.
  21. Hopefully we'll all hear within the next two weeks or so. For those that have been accepted, when are they requesting you confirm attendance? I received my first offer on Feb 14th and they would like confirmation by March 15th. Also did any USC folk apply for the Coro fellowship? Thanks!
  22. Now I think I didn't get in. My app has been under review since the beginning of January and no camel link login for me
  23. I've looked through this forum and the survey page and some decisions were made around this time last year. On thegradcafe survey page someone posted acceptance to their MPP program on 2/15. They probably do it in waves. All of the people that applied before the merit scholarship deadline first and so on. Good luck all!!
  24. Dear Rexbocker828, Thank you for your application for 2012-2013 financial aid. At this time, additional information is required to process your application. If you recently submitted this information, and/or if the document status in your Financial Aid account is "Pending," please ignore this message. Your document has been received and will be reviewed as soon as possible. So that we can accurately determine your eligibility for need-based aid, please please submit the following as soon as possible: PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS, PLEASE NOTE: This notice is not an indicator of an admission decision. Financial aid information is gathered and reviewed for all financial aid applicants, regardless of admission status. Then there's a link to a supplemental form that asks about number of credits and housing. Don't freak out! I think it's probably just because I marked off somewhere that I would apply for aid. I read on here that one school sends out funding information to all applicants (including those that are rejected). This whole process is giving me ulcers!!
  25. Did anyone that applied to USC receive that financial aid - additional information required notice? I'm assuming it's the standard notice that goes to all applicants.
