Mike Slackenerny Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 Yeah I was totally crushed when I saw 1600 in that pdf which was posted. I guess 5 more days isn't too far away. I think this quote applies here: "I never think of the future. It comes soon enough." Einstein Reference
MissionRNAi Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 This is so nerve wracking. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I really wonder if I made the right choice to apply for CIHR vs. NSERC.
Dal PhDer Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I am so disheartened after reading this. I thought I had a fighting chance, but 1600? Geez...I'm reapplying too. I feel like cracking my bottle of wine now! Good luck to everyone! I will be constantly refreshing ResearchNET until I hear!
KathrynMorrison Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I'm just glad we can all stress together! :-) I feel like I know more people who got it their 2nd try than their 1st try, but that's just a few people. This is my first try too. Uggggggghhhhhhh! Won't be long now at least.
Mike Slackenerny Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 This is so nerve wracking. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I really wonder if I made the right choice to apply for CIHR vs. NSERC. Really depends on your PI too I suppose. I know you can't apply to NSERC, if he/she doesn't hold a NSERC grant.7 Also with NSERC, as least there's an internal competion and a smaller number of applicants. Must....just....remember....to....not....get....worked....up haha

Lucretia Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Where exactly would the information be in Researchnet? I assumed the e-mails would go out automatically as soon as they are input?
Mike Slackenerny Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 I'm guessing the new link for view decision appears next to completed activities.
Dal PhDer Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 A new tab will appear called "current activities". Under it, there will be a link to your current application which you can click and see all the documents associated with your review process. Last year there was: 1) official letter of decision, 2) a letter outlining your rank/position with the rest of the applicants, and 3) a document outlining your 2 reviewers scores and comments. The official letter of decision will let you know if you received an award...the rest of the documents you can review once the tears (of joy or pain) clear!
Dal PhDer Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Thanks. I'll take a drink as well. wake me up when its over. I think the only way to cope until the arrival of an official confirmation of decision, is to remain in a constant state of inebriation.
Mike Slackenerny Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 The official letter of decision will let you know if you received an award...the rest of the documents you can review once the tears (of joy or pain) clear! There will be tears all right. "Only a 3.9 on publications? I have seven 1st author papers...why?"
Mike Slackenerny Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Less than 12 hours to go. Maybe researchnet will put us out of our misery and release the results in the evening.......
Dal PhDer Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Good luck to all you guys! (And maybe a little less luck to the other 1600 applicants.... ) I hope you all here great news tomorrow (or tonight- if we could be so lucky!)
KathrynMorrison Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Good luck everyone!!!! Maybe we can all commiserate/celebrate here tonight/tomorrow.
Mike Slackenerny Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Sounds like a plan. Won't be long. Come on snake eyes! Daddy needs research money!
Mike Slackenerny Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) I'm glued to the computer...and keep refreshing my email inbox, researchnet account and this forum for any updates.... fun sunday night Edited April 15, 2012 by Mike Slackenerny
MissionRNAi Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) yup, anxiety. I has it. I am currently playing this to pass time. http://puppyshowdown.com/ LOL. sigh. Edited April 15, 2012 by MissionRNAi
Mike Slackenerny Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Hahaha Nice one. I was watching a series of TED talks and analyzing data slowly....but the puppies are fun too. Last year the results were set to arrive on the 15th (Friday), but they came out on the 14th sometime in the evening. Since today is a Sunday night, I wonder if this would be the case again.
MissionRNAi Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Just throw the data into R or GraphPad and it'll analyze for you ! More time for TED talks and puppies! I hope we find out soon. Perhaps I should preemptively buy some comfort food (ie. ice cream)...
Dal PhDer Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I am glued to my computer! I may have broken my refresh button!
Mike Slackenerny Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Very very very very very tempted to run to the LCBO and keep a bottle of something in the lab office right now
MissionRNAi Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 you know what'd be troll? if they didn't release it until tomorrow night. Ughhhhhhhh all this refreshing for NOTHING
