All this talk about the program is making me hope even more I get off the wait list. I really hope some people decline their admission decisions soon. I want to go back for another visit soon, I'm afraid I might not get the chance before the semester ends. If I do, I'll post what my experience was like.

I'd also like to mention though, being that we are talking about the school and it's location, is that it is really close to Newark which is an awesome city. A lot of people do not realize how many cool places for art Newark has. It's no Chelsea, but There are some great galleries, studio spaces, and cafes/coffee houses. If you go to Rutgers, I hopes many of you go check it out. PM me if any of you want to know of places to check out there

Hi there tysonr2!

Some news for you. Being on the waitlist is very good. We all have to notify Rutgers by April 2nd if we are going to attend. With that said, I think you will find yourself some luck!

Hey Zecchi, I'm going to PM you! :)

Tysonr2, to echo Zecchi, since RU has an early deadline I hope that you will find out something also. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! You've been a great voice on this forum, I think any school that you go to would be lucky to have you!

Ok guys guess what I heard.

I just spoke with Anine on the phone regarding the TA'ship applications, and she said decisions haven't been made yet...

but apparently there should be 7 or 8 available! That's like pretty good odds right? ha

That would be amazing if that came to be - is the TAship the package that comes with a tuition waiver and a $25k stipend?

Its official. I declined. Hope someone from here gets in, and I hope those attending enjoy it there!!!

Sorry you won't be joining, jjr8888 - though I think Wisconsin will treat you just fine! ;)

Hi! First post, but have followed this forum for awhile... I've finally settled on Mason Gross (Sculpture focus)-- hoping to meet some of my classmates!

Welcome! :)

Thank you! Also, just wanted to share (for those who don't know), even if you don't receive a fellowship there are still many opportunities for PTL (Part Time Lecturer) teaching positions. My friend is a second year now @ Rutgers, and he said that while he was disappointed with not getting a fellowship for financial reasons, the PTL positions allowed him more time to focus on his work while still being able to teach & list that he was Part Time Faculty at Rutgers on his CV.

And to echo a post above, I've also heard that the jury isn't out on all of the fellowships. In speaking with Anine and Stephen, it seems like they are waiting to hear from everyone and then they'll be able to give everyone solidified financial info.

Thanks miyamoto81! I really appreciate hearing that. You have definitely been one of the more helpful posters on the forum, which has been a great resource during this stressful process. I guess in the next week or so we can all move on to brand new stresses, the stresses of being grad students! Haha.

Good luck in Madison! I'm sure you will lov it and make some great work to return to NYC with, or wherever you end up in the future.

I am so excited!!!

OK-- so I am thinking of starting a FB group for students going to Rutgers so we can all communicate about things such as moving/living arrangements/anything else/just getting excited.

So, if you want me to add you, message me your full name and I'll hook you up!

Tysonr2, I appreciate the kind words! Definitely let us know where you end up - it seems that regardless of where you end up, you'll be in the NYC area still! :) And I am SOOO ready to no longer be stressed over this . . . I think this summer is going to require some definite living-it-up before hunkering down for the next 2 years.

Agh! I want to email Anine to see if they have an estimated timeframe for when I will know if I get in off the wait list so bad but I dot want to be a bother! To make my anticipation worse I still haven't heard from NYU which has me worried! Lol sorry to vent I just need to get it out.

Good luck to all of you who had to make a decision for RU by today. I can only imagine how hard that is without financial aid info!!

Hey Tysonr2!

I think you should definitely email Anine - if not today, maybe some time this week. I mean, a. it would show that you're interested, and b. you are entitled to as much information as they will give. Maybe wait a few days, but I would encourage you to inquire before the end of the week. In all honesty, I think you might be the only person on this forum who I've heard of being waitlisted, so I can't imagine the list is that long.

Regardless, good luck and keep us posted on how it goes!

Thanks for the advice! I went ahead and emailed Anine just now so hopefully I have more info soon. I think you're right that the wait list is probably not super long, so that works well in my favor.

At this point it all makes me a bit anxious because I haven't actually been accepted anywhere, so in my head I am trying to mentally prepare for applying again, but at the same time I haven't heard from two schools and might get off the wait list! It makes me feel like it is the middle of February all over lol.

Any word when we might hear about our TA'ship applications? I can't accept the place they gave me if I don't get one...

Yeah, I hear you. It's like, do I take a leap of faith or do I go with a solid answer?

I think they do this on purpose. It can't be that hard to read 10-20 applications and pick the people you want for TA.

Check out this amazing place in Highland Park:

http://cnj.craigslist.org/apa/2953792992.html

It says it's a one bedroom with a 'den'. I would totally be town to having my room in the den, straw picking for a room, whatever, and splitting the rent for this amazing apartment with someone! Rent would be cheap as hell, $625 a month AND the lease begins on JULY 1st, the day we get to move in the studios!

PM if you are interested or just want to concider!
