Asian Religion (MA & PhD)

Does anyone else focus on Asian religion (Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Sikhism, Jainism, etc.)? I focus on Hinduism, particularly as it intersects in late Indian nationalism. I'm just curious to see where everyone else in Asian religion is headed!

I'm thinking that I'm probably going to go to Syracuse for my MA but I also got acceptances at UCSB, CU Boulder, YDS, and UWashington's Comparative Religion MA at Jackson School (and I'm waiting to hear back from a few). UW is my second place option, and I'm having sort of a hard time deciding between there and Syracuse which is why I'm interested to see what others are thinking! Most of the other threads on here seem to be mostly Western religion focused, so I thought I'd make a thread for us since the schools with good Asian religion programs are often different from the ones that are popularly talked about on here.

I wouldn't say I focused on it but I took several courses while at YDS focusing on Tibetan Buddhism and thoroughly loved it. Looking back I wish I had studied Tibetan or Sanskrit though to get a better appreciation of the subject.

I fell in love with Lhasa and Kathmandu during undergraduate when a professor asked me to accompany him to those two cities for a summer - he was in the process of writing a comparative studies book on Judaism and Buddhism.

He always suggested Naropa University to students looking to not only learn about Tibetan Buddhism but to also experience it in practice, particularly their MA w/ Language program - I looked at their list of graduates and what PhD programs they went into, pretty impressive: Oxford, Harvard, UCSB, and others.

Anyway, off topic kind of to what you're enquiring about but wanted to drop in and share my experience.
