Carol03 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Hello! I recently got called in for an admissions interview at CSUF for their MSW program. My interview is this coming Wednesday. Has anyone done an interview there yet? Any tips that I should know? Also, does anyone know the dress attire required for the interview and do I need to take anything with me the day of? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Semester Photon Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I haven't been to CSU Fullerton, but at CSU Chico the faculty often dressed super casually (more than one professor wore shorts and sandals year-around). Academia in general has a looser dress code than the corporate world. That being said it's okay to overdress for your interview. I recommend dressing as if you were going for a job interview (just wear comfortable shoes as they may show you around after the formal part of your interview). http://hhd.fullerton.edu/msw/faculty.htm may give you an idea of what to wear. It looks like some of the facaulty dress up and some don't. That was typical of Chico as well. In your position, I would wear some variation of a suit or a professional-type dress for the interview. As for the rest, I'm not in the right field to tell you.
laviola Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I've been there and it's definitely half and half. Are you a girl? I would recommend wearing something like non-black suit pants (to mix it up a little and not look so stern) and a black blazer. You could wear a white blouse underneath or something similar depending on the colouring. Wear nice accessories, don't go over the top, but definitely show some personality in it. I would also say wear comfortable-ish shoes. I can picture the outfit lol, I wish I could draw it for you or something. Definitely dress well but don't dress in all black.
