Hi all,

I heard from a source at EPA that they are on track for getting all notifications out to applicants by May 1st. So hopefully we will all have an answer soon!

I haven't gotten a letter yet, hopefully this is good news. My heart sinks every time I walk out to the mailbox!

Thanks so much everyone for all of your updates. At least I know I am not the only one freaking out! Good luck everyone! :D

Me too...going to the mailbox is the worst part of my day now. I think that if we can survive until Tuesday, then we're in the final cut. I'm not sure how many people are cut in the second round though.

I am on the east coast and not heard anything or received any letters yet. I applied under F3 Safe and Healthy Communities: Ecosystem Services--Terrestrial Systems Soil and Plant Ecology.

I am hoping no news is good news still.

When did the phone calls start last year? If I remember right, there were some major delays that may have been unique to that year. And, from a post above, it sounds like they might be able to meet their deadline of May 1.

Dang it. Now that just ruins my whole line of thinking...but seeing that you're A3 and haven't heard anything gives me a little bit of hope. We'll see after I get to the mailbox this evening!!

I have to admit, I've been stalking this forum from its inception. I'm on the East Coast, applied to the dreaded B2 (Global Change). Went to mailbox today, had no mail from EPA, "praise dance". Hoping to keep with this trend. The waiting is nerve wrecking though. I'm sorry for those that received rejection letters already.

Got my bad news letter yesterday. I am in Idaho so bad news has reached the mountain west! I applied in Drinking Water. Good luck to the rest of you.

Looks like they're going in order of FON. Great. Another week of this waiting.

Sorry to all who have received the dreaded manila envelope. I'll let you know when join you! ;)

I haven't heard a peep out of anyone from some of the larger FON's like B2 or A3 (my own category...) It could be that they are sending them out as they get through them, and the more competitive ones may be the last to be dispatched...

Here's that post from last year's forum:

I thought I would pass this info along. I was curious about why I only had the summary review form, whereas everyone else I know got the three review scores, so I asked the contact in my letter what that meant.

In summary, he said that after the proposals go through three reviews, a panel meets to discuss the applications. Those with high scores from all three reviewers get discussed by the entire panel, and if that occurs, you get a summary of the reviews from all panel members. After the panel review, those with a final score of excellent are forwarded to internal review. Apparently about 214 out of 1479 were forwarded to internal review, and they have funding for about 150 awards this year.

UGH! This is torture  I am in A3, are there any A3 folks out there that have already received notifications?

Has anyone actually gotten positive news?

@tejwvaz -- I talked with someone today that received a letter of bad news in the Terrestrial Systems Animal Ecology (F2) category. It was post-marked April 12th. No news is good news for me ... and the waiting continues.

FractiousEcologist, thanks for the update on the "F" FONs. It helps ease my anxiety a bit. Although I know I'll probably cry on the way to the mailbox everyday until either a phone call or manila envelope.
