Hi all. Awesome news today. This story is too good not to share. My orals were today and one hour before they were to begin I got THE call (I'm F1, last name V, in NC). So I added a slide at the end of my proposal presentation saying..."Guess what? I got THE call today". Committee was happy, and it took the edge off for sure. Good luck to those still waiting!

I haven't seen any evidence that there's some kind of alphabetical notification system, so I don't think we're sure it matters.

So, don't they have to notify by today, or is that only if you are granted the fellowship?

They say on the website "If selected to receive a fellowship, you will be contacted no later than May 1, 2012".

I wouldn't be surprised if they are just behind and haven't notified everyone yet. Last year they when they were behind they didn't update the website until several days after May 1st...

Last year the "deadline" for notification was April 1st, and sometime around April 5th the website finally posted that there was a delay until May 30th ... even so, I didn't get a rejection letter until mid-June. There is a reason they include the "schedule may be changed without notification" clause. Based on the banter from 2010, there were some delays that year as well.

"If selected to receive a fellowship, you will be contacted no later than May 1, 2012 and should subsequently receive your official notification of award by July 31, 2012, for the fall term. Please note that this schedule may be changed without notification due to factors that were not anticipated at the time of announcement. The earliest anticipated start date for these awards is September 1, 2012." (http://www.epa.gov/ncer/rfa/2012/2012_star_gradfellow.html)

ps- F2, Mountain West, still no word.

Has anyone who applied to B2 - Global Change gotten a rejection letter? I haven't seen or know of anyone who applied to this FON who has received a letter. Only Velma has posted about getting a B2 call (congrats, Velma!). Any other B2 awardees out there? Still waiting for any notification...

C2-Virginia- Still nothing. Any other C2s out there? Any more good/bad news from anyone? All input is greatly appreciated by everyone :)

Has anyone who's been selected for funding received the followup email? My project officer said I would receive an email with further instructions by Tuesday, but I didn't get anything.

Hi, I've been stalking this group all day, so I figured I'd chime in with my two cents. I'm a B2 from Florida who has heard nothing. I know of one other from my institution who is the same, and one who was in a water category and got the rejection packet last week. My hopes aren't high, but I'm glad to find others in the same boat :)

@mountaingirl, i don't think we will be getting emails until much later as the website says official notification will be sent out by july. don't worry - i've spoken to others who received the award in the past, and they all confirmed that it takes a while. congrats!!

(C1 - phone call!)

@mountaingirl and @waterworld - I was told I'd be getting an e-mail by Tuesday too, but I don't think that's the "official" notification. The "official" notification or offer letter will come by July-ish after we go through several more hoops (which I believe will be detailed in the e-mail we get in the next few days). I didn't get an e-mail but I expect we will get one in the next day or two.

Has anyone in E1 been notified yet? Still haven't seen a manila envelope or gotten a phone call or anything. Keeping my fingers crossed

FYI for those that have gotten a call (or not). I just got my e-mail outlining the rest of the process. It could be that some FONs are still having panel reviews which is why some people haven't heard or that some people are alternates in case someone will not be eligible to take the fellowship.

@mountaingirl and @aquaflux, just got the email too. I think you are right about it not being the "official" notification, but rather a way to begin the process to get the official word. congrats guys!

Last year they said it was 703 - Arlington area - I've yet to see or hear anything for my A3... I'm assuming I'm an alternate since it seems several others in my FON have heard... I'm starting to wish that I'd just get my packet and be put out of my misery...
