CarolineSC Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Hey guys, So who's going to Georgetown? I just got wait listed, so of course I'm wondering who's going to take their offers?
portlandfioretti Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 (edited) I am waitlisted too, and just wondering what the likelihood of getting funding would be, if I were to get in... Edited March 23, 2012 by portlandfioretti
CarolineSC Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 (edited) I emailed them to ask about the likelihood of funding, but I haven't heard anything. If there isn't any I'll take myself off the wait list and take one of my other offers. Edited March 23, 2012 by CarolineSC
cquin Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Waitlisted as well! Georgetown is one of my top choices so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have a fully-funded offer from another school, so if Georgetown doesn't come through with funding then I'll have to remove myself from the list as well. Good luck to all of us
Avalanched Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I wonder what it means if we haven't heard anything at all. Possibly no news is bad news?
jma310 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Hey guys, my BF is in at the Georgetown MA. He will probably turn down his offer. He is waitlisted for funding though so if someone whose in does t have funding, the likelihood of waitlisters getting it is small :x. But there will be a spot opening up, probably
JayJay329 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I just got waitlisted as well. I am super-psyched, even though it's just a waitlist. I emailed the lady who sent the email to see if there is a possibility waitlisters will get funding. Their website says that some people get tuition wavers/ no assistanship... even if I got that I would accept the offer. Georgetown is my top choice.
JayJay329 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I should also say today is visiting day And the waitlisters weren't invited Is it sad that I am still ecstatic about my place on the waitlist? lol
jma310 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Hahaha no that's fine! Once I hear from him I'll write back in here about whether or not he thinks people are accepting
ms72 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I went for the visit today. Current students were very friendly and overall positive about the program. A few students talked about coming in without funding but making opportunities for themselves: taking tutoring positions, working part-time on campus, building relationships that led to TAships. But most likely the funding will not trickle down to those on the waitlist; that was the impression I got, anyway.
jma310 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 my bf will almost 100% be declining after today. he doesn't have funding though as i mentioned before. ms72-- are you going to attend?
cquin Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 My fellow waitlistees, I received the following email today after I inquired into my placement on the list: "Dear ---, As stated in my email below, we have a second round of applications to process by April 15th, and the situation remains in flux until then. I understand that this date may be later than you would like, considering you have other offers, but do know that we will be in touch immediately if a place opens up for you. In the meantime, please let me know if I can be of any more help to you." So that sounds...not so great.
