Taking Forever!

Hello everyone! So I applied to a total of 11 different schools for the Chemical Engineering PhD program back in January and the last one at Feb. 1st but I have only heard back from four so far! I've gotten one acceptance (with funding) and three rejections. So basically I have not heard anything what so ever from the remaining seven Universities. I think this is really odd because I know fairly sure that I was at least rejected from my undergraduate University since they have already accepted two former undergrads (which was the limit they were shooting for as confirmed through my research professor) so why havent they just rejected me already? It seems like all of my required materials have been received but all of these schools have just been very silent. I'm concerned since the April 15th deadline is fast approaching and I have yet to hear back from many schools (including my top choice). :[

What do you think?

Me too. I got an acceptamnce letter from a school on the first of march and naively figured the rest of the schools would be sending acceptance or rejection letters within two weeks of the first notice. Now, it is almost the begining of april and not a peep! I am worried about making the school that accepted me angry by not giving them an answer. If I dont hear from anyone else by the fifth of April I will commit

Hello, kneebuz. I am a Chem Eng PhD applicant also, greetings to you.

Out of the seven schools that I applied, six of them have responded to me. UIC said my application is on hold due to funding, I would consider them as wait list.

You may see my signatures below for details, hope it helps.

I think it is just a really slow season for getting back to people from some universities. I have yet to here a decision from anyone yet (applied 5 schools) and last I spoke with them they all are still in the decision making process. Its quite nerve-wrecking.

Note that this seems to be especially true for geoscience people. I keep saying that, and it still seems to be holding up. Geologists in limbo... should be one of those awful made-for-TV movies, haha.
