baer
Hi all, There is no special topic for universities in Australia. Although the scholarship oppurtunities are rare, the competition is a bit less severe except Melburne, ANU and Sydney when compared to US. Canada, I think that there are people who applied/think to apply for the universities in Australia. you can share your comments/results/experience in this topic. I applied to universities in Australia (UWA and UNSW) but still waiting for decisons for these two universities.
baer
I see that nobody in this forum applied to study in australia. I understand why (too far from central continents, not having so renowned universities globally, and maybe snakes, spiders..). But I couldn't find any hot topic in another forum like gradcafe. Then please explain me why I've been still waiting since late Jan. In addition, I'm in contact with my potential supervisor (I prepared a conf. paper under his supervision.too) however, he didn't answer my request asking about my status without bounding on him. nadirv26
I applied to Bond University in Australia for their J.D. program. They told me I should hear back from them within a few weeks. I'd try sending your supervisor or graduate program administer an email or phone call.
new_to_kin
Bear in mind that the academic year has only just begun (mar) there so they are prob really busy. They are probably used to people starting in MArch, not Sept, so it is a different timetable. I'm an Aussie, so feel free to ask me anything. I went to grad school inthe US and now am going in Canada, so I am familiar with both styles of school.

baer
Thanks for your replies. I think i will hear decisions from the universities late in April. Although my potential supervisor at one of these universities supporting my application and I'm still keep in touch with him, but she refusing to give me any apriori information about my application's rank among other applications. is this information is too classified for a prof. to learn my chance of gettting admission a few weeks ago? baer
I admit that some of them (especially members of group-8) are really good in academic area. However, How degrees obtained from these universities are recognized in other parts of the world, especially in US/Canada/UK when compared to other renowned universities in these countries. I think it is another issue and really important (not for me and maybe you). However, it is a fact that an ivy leaque student will prefer to study at Columbia Univ instead of univMelb. At this point I assume that all other conditions are same for these two universities. Finally, Congrulations on your admissio to UnivMelb. I know that it is really better that UWA and UNSW.
