sabomnim Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 On Tuesday, I was accepted into grad school and was emailed by the director for the deptartment. He told me I was admitted and that he will be preparing the official offer letter later this week. He also asked me to reply letting him know if I am planning to accept. I replied almost immediately that I accept. He never replied (not that it is necessary) but my status on the website still doesn't show accepted. I am assuming that I should just expect the offer letter via snail mail, right? I know im being overly paranoid but after reading some of these posts on the forum about schools withdrawing acceptances I just want to ease my mind. I should just be patient til middle of next week, and if I dont get anything send him another email?
wine in coffee cups Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Check to make sure there isn't actually a page online to formally accept/decline (which might be why your status isn't changed). When I emailed the director of a program to let him know I was declining, he replied to remind me to also go through the online accept/decline page because they couldn't actually release my spot to another student without that step. I would wait for the offer letter, in any case. It will probably have instructions on how to accept/decline.
TakeruK Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 For some schools, I got a letter in the mail that I had to check off / circle "accept" or "decline", sign it, and then either snail mail, fax, or scan+email it back to them. For others, there was a page online where I had to click one box or another -- usually the link (and login info) to do this was in the official snail mail letter. So yes, wait a bit for the official letter to come! Although I really appreciated it when departments emailed me a PDF of the letter at the same time as snail mailing the official letter.
CarlieE Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I got mine via an email, but then I got a follow up email telling me to log into their online system and electronically sign a PDF.
