peanut33 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Hi Everyone, I'm considering pursuing an MS in Applied Statistics part-time while working full-time. I have already applied and been accepted to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (limited due to living/work situation). The actual degree is awarded from Purdue, which I understand is pretty good for stats. However, I'm not sure attending a satellite school will look as good on my resume/CV after graduation. I don't want to do all the work and then be unable to compete with those who attended top ranked schools. Any thoughts on how much weight school carries and how a satellite school is viewed in relation to the main campus? Also--the programs seem to have some similarities but are not identical as one would expect. Thank you for any input/advice/suggestions!
ANDS! Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 The department seems fine to me. Especially if you are going into industry. For a "satellite" school, they certainly have a large student body and budget. I really don't think you need to be hung up on this schools qualifications, and instead focus on the individuals in your department.
