I have been looking for a ranking specifically for this area, but cannot find such an ordering anywhere. I would appreciate if anybody can share any links/experience here. Software Engineering is generally a field full of people looking for jobs in industry and not a whole lot of research happens. (From what I've seen.) It seems like an odd choice for a PhD, though a reasonable one for an MS. Which means... *drumroll* look for schools with strong masters programs who enroll a lot of people. opsimath Posted March 7, 2009 Share Posted March 7, 2009 I would guess UT-Austin, UW (Washington), and CMU, just because those are the three "strong" programs I know that have large groups dedicated to software engineering, but I don't know enough about the field to really say. No doubt I'm leaving out a number of good programs. The SE folks always seem to be trying to get papers into ICSE and FSE, so I'd check out those conference proceedings to see who publishes the most.
