Guest Undecided Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Anyone going to Washington University in St. Louis? I'm considering the political science department, but I heard that Lee Epstein is leaving, so I'm not sure.
Guest emi Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 ...but not to political science, to english lit. How close of a decision is it for you?
Guest Undecided Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Sorry...that was me, I put the title in the username spot on the original post. -L again
Guest L again Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 So, what made you decide to go to WashU? I really like the school, but the poli sci department seemed like it might be headed in a different direction than I'm looking for (especially since they confirmed that Lee Epstein is leaving).
Guest psylocybha Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I didn't visit as I'm not in the US. The long answer for why I'm going is that my impression is that the department is going in a favourable direction. However, my interests are comparative and methods, and Epstein seems to focus on American and legal, so there isn't really a match. It will be a loss for the whole dept., of course, but all depts see people come and go. I also got enthusiastic responses from potential advisers and the funding offer was very good. The short answer though, is that it was simply the better department out of my two offers! What are your areas of interest?
Guest L again Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I'm still undecided. I've given up on any school that pushes game theory!
Guest Future Grad Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I think I'm also going to head to WashU in the fall for political science. I'm a comparativist, so I wasn't devistated that Lee left.
Guest L again Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I should also add that I wanted at least a minor in IR, and WashU doesn't even offer it. They only do IPE. Not a good match.
Guest Done Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Just sent in my acceptance of WashU's offer for political science - comparative politics. Hard decision, but in the end the school seemed like the best fit for me.
Guest psylocybha Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Great, 3.48pm poster. I'll see you at WashU. What are your interests within comparative?
Guest psylocybha Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 If you've decided on WashU - any department - give me a shout. I'd love to "meet and greet". nomad545@gmail.com
