I really like the school, but the poli sci department seemed like it might be headed in a different direction than I'm looking for (especially since they confirmed that Lee Epstein is leaving). The long answer for why I'm going is that my impression is that the department is going in a favourable direction. However, my interests are comparative and methods, and Epstein seems to focus on American and legal, so there isn't really a match. It will be a loss for the whole dept., of course, but all depts see people come and go. I also got enthusiastic responses from potential advisers and the funding offer was very good.
