Hey guys,

I checked my application status online just now, and for some reason, it now has my application status as "Incomplete" because it says that they did not receive my transcript from my undergraduate institution. But I KNOW I definitely sent it in, and in fact, I remember it being sent in and checked off before I finished writing my essays. In January my application packet was complete. Now it's not. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE?

What should I do? Do you think they're just changing a bunch of stuff right now in preparation for releasing the awardees?

When should we expect decisions to come out? The documentation says "on or about March 31," but does anyone know when people were notified last year?

To the OP, my application status is "complete" and hasn't changed in months. Hopefully there's some kind of mistake with yours...

This is the OP...

I remember them posting on time last year, definitely before NSF, but NSF was late last year, I think around April 8th.

Thanks menachem, I gave them a call and left a message, but haven't heard back. I emailed them a couple nights ago when I discovered the error, and still haven't heard back. They must be swamped in emails. I'll try again tomorrow and let you guys know!

I have the same transcript problem, and I both called and emailed. They said that the status page hasn't been working, so if you are still worried, you can ask them (as I did on the phone) to double check your status. They told me that my application was in fact complete, so that was a load off my mind!

Do any of you guys (or gals as the case may be) know what the approximate percentage of acceptences is? For the NSF GRFP its about 10%. Is the NDSEG similar or more selective?

They have stats in the FAQ section, I believe, but NDSEG is not as broad as NSF. They have fewer fellowships to give, and the proposal should be geared towards research the US military is interested in (these research topics are posted on the research department websites for each branch of the military). That said, a lot of folks (including me last year) just send in their NSF proposal and think that it's OK. It's not. I think overall the percentages are pretty low (about the same as NSF), but I don't know the percentages for people who actually have research the military is interested in.

Guest too much
I think we'll hear back tonight at around midnight Eastern time (9PM pacific for me). Last year, I believe that was when the list was posted online.

Oh, man. This and NDSEG in the same day? I think this calls for a few beers.

I don't think I can take another rejection in less than 24 hours.

Less than 5 hours till we find out *** pops the seal on the first one ***
