Destiny Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Hey, everyone. I plan to apply for the graduate program in statistics in Fall 2013. However, I've encountered several questions. My undergraduate study is Accounting, and I haven't taken many mathematical courses. I just took calculus, linear algebra, introduction to statistical methods. I nearly finished a semester work of probability, and complex analysis; however, they don't show on my transcript. My undergraduate GPA is around 3.7. And my GRE is 159+169. No TOEFL required. My question is: is there any possibility that I could get admitted into top 50 school without an adequate mathematical background? Do you have any suggestions about which kind of schools I should apply for? Thank you all! KendraMulyono 1
sisyphus1 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 are you applying for master's or phd programs? for master's programs i think your math background is more than adequate - you will be competitive at most top programs (in my master's class there were many students with far less mathematical background than you).

I plan to apply for the master's program. I've been worrying about my mathematical background, because there are many math requirements on most top programs. I'm afraid I won't be qualified.
