So I submitted my applications, and now that I can see what's being processed, I can see that none of my schools have my GRE scores. I sent my GRE scores to all my schools about a month ago, before I even began filling out the apps.

I'm thinking the admissions offices are having problems because I took the GRE under a different name (think Jane Goodall instead of Jane Goodall-Myers).

Since the deadline is about 2.5 weeks away for a few of these schools, I'm getting worried. I've e-mailed a couple of the schools with my GRE registration number and the name they should be looking for, but they haven't responded.

How long should I wait for a response to these emails? Will they be able to find my GRE scores with the registration number and name? Will I need to resend the GRE scores? If I do, will they arrive in time and will they be able to find them any easier?

This crap is making me crazy. (!!)

Normally schools have a window for corrections after the application deadline. So chill , your file will not end up in the trash. Make sure you send whatever you have to all the schools before the deadline though. Then you can ask them how you could correct the error. It will take them some time to answer your question, this is the busiest time for them but it will be fine.

Although my GRE scores have the correct name, my transcripts don't. I made sure to fill out the maiden name section on all my apps, and the ones that didn't have a place for that, I emailed the DGS with a heads up. (No one responded, but I am trying to cover my bases.) The good thing about GRE scores is that they are received centrally, so you can call the graduate division without the department ever knowing you did. I would call (not email) and ask them if they have been received. It's also possible that because they are received centrally there is a difference in posting time with transcripts or other materials. I had to call two grad divisions about my GREs and both were really nice about it and extremely helpful.

I'm in a similar situation but with my TOEFL scores, I sent them before I started my applications and the universities haven't processed them. They also have been taking forever to reply to my emails (weeks) which is frustrating. I understand that they may be getting flooded by emails in this time of the year, but still..

Thank you all for the replies, they saved my sanity last night. I did make cover sheets for my transcripts with my maiden & married names on it to try and reduce confusion, but for the GRE, I didn't think there was anything I could do. I should have e-mailed ahead like BearCat, then I wouldn't be biting my nails over this right now.

It's not too late! Just shoot the DGS an email so they know. None of them responded to me, so who knows if it did any good (I haven't had confirmation that all my transcripts have been received yet) but if it would make you feel better, I think it's definitely not too late.

I had a problem with my transcripts last year where the online status-checking thing for one school said "Transcript not received"

I emailed after the deadline has passed and the transcript should have been received and they said that they did receive the transcript but since the names didn't match exactly, the computer system didn't update the status. They did not manually fix the computer status though!
